Observed cosmic evolution of galaxy dust properties with metallicity and tensions with models

چکیده

The dust abundance of the interstellar medium plays an important role in galaxy physics, chemical evolution matter and absorption re-emission stellar light. last years have seen a surge observational theoretical studies constraining dust-abundance galaxies up to $z\sim5$. In this work we gather latest measurements (with focus on covering metallicities range $6.8 < 12 + \log{(O/H)}<9$) predictions (from six different formation models) for dust-to-gas (DTG) dust-to-metal (DTM) ratio galaxies. observed trend between DTG DTM gas-phase metallicity can be described by linear relation shows no from $0<z<5$. Importantly, fit DTG-metallicity provides refined tool robust dust-based gas mass estimates inferred millimeter dust-continuum observations. lack relations are indicative quickly reached balance (already when Universe was 1.2 Gyr old) destruction constant timescale star-formation at fixed over cosmic time. None models is able reproduce trends entire redshift probed. comparison simulations furthermore rules out some current implementations growth places tight constraints predicted star-formation.

Probing the Cosmic Metallicity Evolution with Gamma-Ray Bursts

The current Swift sample of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) with measured redshifts allows to test the assumption that GRBs trace the star formation in the Universe. Some authors have claimed that the rate of GRBs increases with cosmic redshift faster than the star formation rate, whose cause is not known yet. In this paper, I investigate the possibility for interpreting the observed discrepancy betwee...

a comparison of teachers and supervisors, with respect to teacher efficacy and reflection

supervisors play an undeniable role in training teachers, before starting their professional experience by preparing them, at the initial years of their teaching by checking their work within the proper framework, and later on during their teaching by assessing their progress. but surprisingly, exploring their attributes, professional demands, and qualifications has remained a neglected theme i...

Detailed analysis of observed antiprotons in cosmic rays

In the present work, the origin of antiprotons observed in cosmic rays (above the atmosphere) is analyzed in details. We have considered the origin of the primaries, (which their interactions with the interstellar medium is one of the most important sources of antiprotons) is a supernova type II then used a diffusion model for their propagation. We have used the latest parameterization for anti...

Confronting theoretical models with the observed evolution of the galaxy population out to z 4

We construct light cones for the semi-analytic galaxy formation simulation of Guo et al. and make mock catalogues for comparison with deep high-redshift surveys. Photometric properties are calculated with two different stellar population synthesis codes in order to study sensitivity to this aspect of the modelling. The catalogues are publicly available and include photometry for a large number ...
